Mom Tri’s Villa Royale Resort, Kata Noi Phuket
A boutique hotel located on a bluff in Phuket, Thailand, overlooking the white sand beach of Kata Noi and the Andaman Sea. The resort was created by architect and artist Mom Tri, a descendant of King Rama IV. Eight years ago, Mom Tri provided guests access to his private summer home. Forty suites offer a setting of peace and serenity with its authentic Thai art and antiques, scenic ocean views, and abundant tropical gardens.
The Villa Royale offers twelve types of suites, including those with a private pool. One can find a saltwater swimming pool landscaped into the rocks along the beach, as well as two freshwater pools. Amenities include complimentary wireless internet, fully equipped minibar, an in-room safety deposit box, cable television, and a daily English-language newspaper, among others. The hotel offers a bar and lounge, conference room for business, library, babysitting service, free parking, laundry, car/motorbike rental, a fitness room, and spa and massage facilities.
East Winds Inn Resort, St. Lucia
East Winds is situated in the Caribbean Islands on La Brelotte Bay of St. Lucia, between Martinique and St. Vincent. Nature is abundant on the island, with numerous local birds living in the tropical gardens of the Inn, including Mangrove Cuckoos and St. Lucian Hummingbirds. The resort contains only thirty spacious yet cozy rooms, twenty-six of which are in thirteen individual duplex cottages, along with three ocean view rooms and a suite. All rooms are settled among the gardens.
Every room has its own private, shaded patio or terrace and include an in-room safe, daily-stocked refrigerator, and coffee/tea making facilities. Most rooms contain a mutli-speed ceiling fan; some feature air conditioning. Superior rooms contain a walk-in shower with adjoining walk-in wardrobe area and a bar-sink unit. Deluxe units includes cable television. Ocean View rooms are located closer to the beach and over a great ocean view. Though smaller in size, they offer the privacy of an open-air lounge. Finally, the Mini Suite contains a small separate sitting room, its own cloakroom, and a large private sundeck.
Los Altos de Eros Luxury Inn and Spa, Costa Rica
Los Altos is an adult-only resort located twenty minutes outside of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Though it contains only five rooms, they offer a spacious yet private getaway for couples. Four of the rooms are poolside, and the fifth room is the Eros Suite – a romantic hideout upstairs with majestic mountain and ocean views.
A full complimentary breakfast and gourmet lunch is offered daily, with dinner served on Saturdays. They also offer cooking classes on Tuesday afternoons for $50/person. Free smoothies, wine and beer are available any time. Local transportation is provided, which includes airport pickup at Tamarindo or Liberia. All rooms offer wireless internet and toll free global phone. Los Altos has a spa with services including body wraps, manicure/pedicure, facials, and massages. They also have a yoga facility with the option for customized private yoga instruction of any length at any time of the day. Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraíso, Riviera Maya Mexico
Located in the Mayan Riviera on the Yucatán Peninsula – just thirty minutes from the Cancun International Airport – Grand Hotel Paraíso is an adults-only lavish five-star hotel. The resort is so large that a small train runs every fifteen minutes to transport guests between restaurants, rooms, the lobby, and even a shopping plaza. Visitors will find three pools (one saltwater, one lake, and one heated indoor/outdoor) with butlers and a private spa offering couples massages and treatments. The hotel contains 312 suites, including 120 oceanfront, 90 ocean view, and 90 partial ocean view. Also available are twelve Honeymoon Villa Suites, each with its own private plunge pool.
Three full meals are offered every day at several buffets. The main restaurant sports an open kitchen. There is, however, a dress code – gentlemen must wear long trousers. Drinks and snacks are complimentary, and guests have access to a free shuttle bus service to Playa del Carmen. All rooms include air conditioning and ceiling fans, a complimentary minibar, restrooms with Jacuzzi, TV, DVD player, and in-room safes among other things.
Nukubati Private Island Resort, Fiji
Nukubati is located on the island of Fiji among the coral reefs in the South Pacific. The resort is designed for couples, with no TV or telephone to serve as distractions. Nukubati Island is a very private place, with only seven suites located along the western beaches. Rooms are decorated with a comfortable and elegant style and designed to take advantage of sea breezes, in turn negating the need for air conditioning.
A full range of toiletries, mini bar, hair dryer, coffee and teas, and room service are provided. Daily laundry is complimentary. The four beachfront suites include private patios, dressing tables, lounge chairs, and writing desk among others. The other three rooms also have a thatched open Fijian bure.
